Last Sunday was an unforgettable day for Arturo Cimarra, promoter of the #retosolidario2013 initiative through sport, which Antana has been supporting in favour of the Menudos Corazones Foundation, a foundation to help children with heart problems(www.menudoscorazones.org) and the NGO Por la Sonrisa de un Niño, which helps thousands of children in Cambodia to go to school and escape poverty(www.psncamboya.org).
The reason for joy was that Cimarra managed to complete the Solidarity Challenge that he had set himself to fund projects of these two organisations and that, in addition, the athlete has managed to exponentially improve his previous middle distance triathlon record by more than 40 minutes with a time of 5 hours and 5 minutes (42 minutes in a 1.9 km swim, 2 hours and 34 minutes in an 80 km bike ride and 1 hour and 40 minutes in a 20 km run).
From the construction company Antana we have supported and believed in this project and in the capacity of sport to mobilise and obtain support for the projects of these two organisations:
- Menudos Corazones helps children with congenital heart disease and their families. The idea is to help them finance a Summer Camp that they organise for children aged between 7 and 14, which serves as an escape from the hospital and their problems and where they can lead a "normal" life. Arturo Cimarra had the opportunity to meet them in person last year and "the work they do is commendable", he says. The cost of living expenses for a child per day at the Camp is around €45. - Fundación Por la Sonrisa de un Niño in Cambodia also organises a summer camp which it aims to help fund and which provides children from the rubbish dumps with employment, food, hygiene and a place to escape from the hard life they have had to live. Cimarra was impressed by the fact that the cost of feeding ten children for the entire camp was no more than €45.
